PRIMARY SCHOOL SPORTS CO-ORDINATOR

The successful candidate must:

• Have relevant qualifications and experience in Sports Management, Physical Education, Coaching, or a related field.
• Have proven experience in co-ordinating and managing a comprehensive primary school sports programme.
• Demonstrate a strong passion for youth sport and physical education.
• Have a particular strength and proven experience in hockey coaching and development, with the ability to continue growing and strengthening the school's hockey programme.
• Be able to teachPhysical Education (PE) across the Primary School and create engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate lessons.
• Possess excellent organisational, administrative, and planning skills.
• Be highly effective in managing sports fixtures, festivals, tournaments, team selections, transport arrangements, communication, equipment, and scheduling.
• Be able to build positive relationships with students, parents, coaches, staff, officials, and sporting bodies.
• Demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and support coaches and sporting staff.
• Be proficient in the use of technology and administrative systems to support the effective running of the sports department.
• Have excellent communication, organisational, and administrative skills.
• Be willing to work beyond normal school hours, including afternoons, evenings, weekends, festivals, tournaments, and other sporting commitments.
• Be prepared to contribute meaningfully to the broader life of the school and participate fully in school events and community initiatives.
• Hold the requisite academic and professional qualifications.
• Be registered with the South African Council for Educators (SACE).

• Be passionate about creating positive sporting experiences for all students, from participation level through to high performance.

• Be committed to developing well-rounded students through sport, leadership, teamwork, and healthy competition.

Key Responsibilities:

• Co-ordinate and oversee the Primary School sports programme.
• Teach Physical Education across the Primary School.
• Lead and develop the school's hockey programme.
• Manage sports fixtures, festivals, tournaments, and sporting events.
• Oversee sports administration, communication, budgeting, equipment, and logistics.
• Support and mentor coaches to ensure high-quality coaching and positive student experiences.
• Promote participation, sportsmanship, and school spirit across all sporting codes.
• Contribute to the strategic growth and development of sport within the school.
