FOUNDATION PHASE (GRADE 3) TEACHER
Post Level 1 • Fixed Term Contract Appointment • Commencing 1 January 2027
The Governing Body of Jupiter Street Primary School invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced educators for the position of Foundation Phase Teacher, Grade 3 (Post Level 1).
POST LEVEL: Foundation Phase Teacher
APPOINTMENT TYPE: Fixed term contract
COMMENCEMENT DATE: 1 January 2027
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Qualifications: A four-year (REQV 14) qualification which includes professional educator training, with a specialisation in Foundation Phase teaching.
- Registration: Registered with the South African Council for Educators (SACE), or proof of application for registration.
- Experience: Relevant Foundation Phase teaching experience will be an advantage.
- Competencies: Sound knowledge of the CAPS Foundation Phase curriculum, particularly Gr3 Eng HL, Afr FAL, Maths and Life Skills, and strong literacy and numeracy teaching methodology.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching & Learning - Planning, preparing and presenting structured, age-appropriate lessons in Home Language, First Additional Language, Mathematics and Life Skills for Grade 3, in line with the CAPS Foundation Phase curriculum.
Assessment & Reporting - Continuously assessing and recording learner progress through formal and informal assessment and reporting on learner attainment to parents and Management.
Classroom & Learner Support - Creating a safe, stimulating and structured classroom environment; identifying learners who may need additional support and referring them via the school’s support structures.
Stakeholder Relations - Maintaining regular communication with parents and caregivers regarding learner progress and wellbeing and participating in phase-level and whole-school meetings and activities.

- Strong classroom management and the ability to create a structured, nurturing environment.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly when engaging with parents and caregivers.
- A growth mindset and willingness to participate actively in instructional coaching, classroom observation, feedback and continuous professional development.
