DEPUTY PRINCIPAL

Post Level 3 • Permanent Appointment • Commencing 1 January 2027

The Governing Body of Jupiter Street Primary School invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced educators for the permanent position of Deputy Principal (Post Level 3).

POST LEVEL 3 — Deputy Principal

APPOINTMENT TYPE: Permanent, full-time

COMMENCEMENT DATE: 1 January 2027

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualifications: A recognised four-year (REQV 14) qualification.
  • Registration: Registered with the South African Council for Educators (SACE), or proof of application for registration.
  • Experience: A minimum of five (5) years’ appropriate teaching experience in a primary school.
  • Competencies: Sound knowledge of curriculum delivery, school administration, financial management, and strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

General & Administrative - Assisting and deputising for the Principal; managing duty rosters, staff attendance arrangements, internal and external assessment, the school calendar, admission of learners and class streaming; and assisting with school finances, resources and the maintenance of buildings and equipment.

Teaching & Learning - Leading curriculum and instructional improvement through classroom observations, coaching and actionable feedback; supporting DHs and teacher development; monitoring curriculum, assessment and learner achievement; using data to drive interventions; and undertaking class teaching as required.

Curriculum & Co-curricular - Overseeing school curriculum and pedagogy and supporting the effective delivery of extra- and co-curricular programmes.

Stakeholder Relations & Communication - Building sound working relationships with the School Governing Body, staff, parents and the wider community, and representing the Principal at meetings and school functions as required.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • A demonstrated record of instructional and curriculum leadership.
  • Sound understanding of the Constitution and relevant education legislation and policy.
  • Strong administrative, planning and organisational skills, with close attention to detail.
  • The ability to work under pressure, manage time effectively and lead by example.
