CLASS 5 CLASS TEACHER

Situated in the heart of the southern suburbs of Cape Town, Michael Oak Waldorf School is a beautiful small school community with children from nursery to matric. Michael Oak seeks to awaken the whole child towards creative responsibility and to develop confident, balanced individuals empowered to work with the challenges of today and tomorrow.

We are seeking candidates for the position of:

CLASS 5 CLASS TEACHER

Full-time permanent position to begin January 2027

The successful applicant will be expected to take on the role as Class 5 at Michael Oak, and move with their class through to Class 7.  They must meet the following criteria:

• Formal teaching qualification at Intermediate Phase
• SACE registration
• Interest in and willingness to learn Waldorf pedagogy
• Willingness to grow with the children in their care, adapting their teaching style to the Waldorf methodology and each year of the child’s development as they move from class 5 to class 7.
• A generalist educator, confident in Mathematics, Social and Natural Sciences, English Teaching.
• Versed in a wide range of artistic skills - drawing, painting, clay work, singing, playing an instrument, rhythmic speech, drama.
• Caring and enthusiastic, with a love of and dedication to children and their development
• Self-motivated
• Able to work well with our dynamic community of staff, learners and parents
• Willingness to actively contribute to the collective management of the Primary School

Preference will be given to candidates who have completed Waldorf training and / or those who have previous experience teaching at a Waldorf school.
