Rhenish Primary School invites applications from student teachers to join our Internship Programme, effective 1 January 2027. Rhenish Primary is a leading co-educational, English medium, primary school based in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Rhenish Primary aims to nurture in our children the spirit of curiosity, creativity and commitment to the community in the changing global context. In spite of the many changes and advances to keep abreast of trends in education, Rhenish Primary School remains proudly steeped in our history and tradition. 2026 is the school’s 166th year of existence. Positions available:
- Foundation and Intermediate/Senior Phase Interns
The internship programme is an opportunity to work towards becoming a teacher through mentorship and practical experience. The programme is aimed at applicants who can fully embrace the diverse ethos of Rhenish Primary School.
The successful candidate should have a vibrant, dynamic personality, bring warmth and excitement to the classroom and have a love for seeing children thrive on the sports field.
The following competencies are essential in the candidate we seek:
- Currently busy with, or planning to pursue a PGCE or Bachelors of Education degree in 2027.
- Proficient in English with good verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates enthusiasm, creativity and a genuine passion for teaching.
- Ability to coach at least one summer and one winter sport.
- Commitment to participating in the school’s diverse range of extra-mural and co-curricular activities.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Flexible, collaborative, and a team player.
