Key Responsibilities May Include:
- Deliver dynamic and interactive lessons aligned with the Foundation Phase CAPS curriculum.
- Foster a supportive and positive classroom environment.
- Assess and monitor scholar progress, providing daily constructive feedback.
- Create original teaching and learning resources to support lesson delivery, assessments and differentiated resources where required.
- Ability to identify learning barriers and individual learning needs, plan interventions and provide targeted support.
- Demonstrate professionalism in punctuality, behaviour and standards for both personal and scholars’ work.
- Collaborate with team members and engage with parents/guardians to support scholar development.
- Use technology effectively and creatively to enhance learning.
- Participate in school events and activities to enrich the learning experience.
- Be open to continuous professional personal and school-wide development, implementing feedback from coaching, observations and professional development opportunities to improve classroom practice.
Education and/or Experience:
- Relevant tertiary educational qualification in the appropriate teaching phase.
- South African Council for Educators (SACE) registration.
- Previous experience teaching the Grade 1, 2 or 3 CAPS curriculum is preferred.
- Experience in planning and delivering structured Foundation Phase lessons and creating appropriate teaching and learning resources.
- CAPS Curriculum Training
- Jolly Phonics Training is advantageous.
- Proficiency in incorporating technology into teaching methods.
Skills, Competencies and Attributes:
- Strong lesson planning and classroom organisation skills.
- Ability to create engaging, age-appropriate and curriculum-aligned teaching resources independently.
- Ability to identify learning gaps, respond to scholar needs and adapt instruction accordingly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent time management, with the ability to plan, meet deadlines and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Demonstrates initiative, creativity and a willingness to take ownership of teaching and learning.
- High standards of professionalism, accountability and reliability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluent in English, proficiency in isiXhosa or Afrikaans is advantageous.
- A belief that all children can achieve with the right support and teaching.
Other:
- Must have reliable transport.
- This is an on-site role at Apex Stellenbosch.
