POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a warm, patient, and qualified Au Pair with a teaching background to join our family in Parow North.

This role involves caring for two energetic boys (ages 7 and 4) and supporting our 7-year-old through a structured, low-demand home education environment following school burnout.

The ideal candidate brings strong emotional regulation skills, a willingness to implement neurodiversity-affirming approaches (specifically Pathological Demand Avoidance / Persistent Drive for Autonomy) and a passion for child-led learning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Homeschool Instruction & Support: Design and facilitate low-pressure, engaging educational activities for our 7-year-old in line with his recovery from school burnout.
  • Co-Regulation & Emotional Support: Guide both children through emotional regulation, using calm, collaborative, and flexible approaches suited to PDA profiles.
  • Childcare & Transportation: Execute school runs, facilitate social outings, and organize enriching local activities.
  • Daily Support & Household Tasks: Prepare light, nutritious meals/snacks for the children and assist with light child-related housekeeping, such as tidying play areas and meal cleanup.

KEY REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Tertiary degree in Education (B.Ed, PGCE, or Foundation Phase/Early Childhood specialization preferred).
  • Transportation: Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle.
  • Approach & Mindset:
    • Openness and willingness to learn about PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance / Persistent Drive for Autonomy) and low-demand parenting/teaching frameworks.
    • Trainable, adaptable, and receptive to positive collaboration with parents.
    • Christian values and ethos aligned with family life.
  • Experience: Experience managing school burnout, neurodivergence, or specialized learning support is a strong advantage.
