The school is seeking to appoint someone to the following position:

HEAD OF AFRIKAANS FAL DEPARTMENT

Starting Date: January 2027

The successful candidate will be an exceptional individual. He/she will:

• Have the innate ability to connect with children.
• Have excellent organisational and communication skills – and the ability to lead and inspire a team.
• Be passionate about teaching Afrikaans First Additional Language and have an active interest in innovative approaches to the teaching and learning of the subject.
• Be self-motivated, naturally curious, and an avid reader.
• Have the necessary qualifications and experience to teach the IEB Afrikaans FAL curriculum to Grade 12 level – this is a minimum requirement of this position. Having marked Matric IEB examinations in this subject will be very advantageous to the application.
• Embrace technology to significantly enhance the learning experience.
• Encourage student participation in Olympiads and competitions and be able to offer extension for these students.
• Continue to drive Bridge House School as a centre for Afrikaans excellence and development in South Africa.
• Be willing to participate fully in the life of the school and extracurricular activities.
