Head of English Department

Starting Date: January 2027

The successful candidate will be an exceptional individual. He/she will:

• have the innate ability to connect with children.
• have excellent organisational and communication skills - and the ability to lead and inspire a team.
• be passionate about teaching English Home Language and have an active interest in innovative approaches to the teaching and learning of the subject.
• Be self-motivated, naturally curious, and an avid reader.
• have the necessary qualifications and experience to teach the IEB English Home Language curriculum to Grade 12 level – this is a minimum requirement of this position. Having marked Matric IEB examinations will be very advantageous to the application.
• have experience in having taught the Further Studies English programme.
• embrace technology to significantly enhance the learning experience.
• encourage student participation in Olympiads and competitions and be able to offer extension for these students.
• continue to drive Bridge House school as a centre for English excellence and development in South Africa.
• be willing to participate fully in the life of the school and extracurricular activities.
