EDUCATOR: AFRIKAANS FIRST ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE (SGB)

Wynberg Boys’ High School seeks to appoint a well-qualified, experienced, enthusiastic, Afrikaans First Additional Language teacher to join our dynamic Afrikaans department. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent teaching and communication skills, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to both the academic and co-curricular life of the school.
Minimum Requirements
- Must have the ability to teach Afrikaans FAL Grade 8-12
- A minimum of 3 years of teaching Afrikaans for Grade 8-12
- A Bachelor’s degree or appropriate equivalent qualification with a PGCE or a B.Ed. with Afrikaans as a major subject.
- A valid clearance certificate for Criminal Record, Sexual Offences Register, and Child Protection Register, or a willingness to obtain such clearances.
- SACE registration or proof of application for registration/updated subscription.
- Extra mural duties – active involvement will be a requirement. Please state extra mural activities that you can offer.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for planning content, setting tests, assignments, projects, and examinations.
- Applicant will be extensively involved in the school’s pastoral system, managing a tutor group consisting of boys from Grade 8 to Grade 12.
- Must be able to contribute meaningfully to our extensive extramural programme.
- Applicants must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fully computer literate in Microsoft 365 Suite (Ms Teams, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook), and use of the internet.
- Effective learner management skills.
- Willingness to embrace rapid changes in education, and an interest and ability to integrate ICT and technology into teaching and learning is imperative.
- NSC Afrikaans marking experience will be advantageous.
