Estate Manager: Grounds and Facilities

Grace College, an independent Christian school situated in the scenic Midlands town of Hilton, is seeking a dedicated Estate Manager to oversee the maintenance, development and the efficient functioning of our buildings, grounds and facilities. This is a key role in ensuring a safe, attractive and well-managed environment for our school community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all estate buildings, systems and grounds (including the swimming facility).
  • Develop and implement a preventative maintenance programme for optimal facility performance.
  • Supervise, train and manage groundskeeping, cleaning and maintenance staff to ensure high standards of workmanship.
  • Plan and oversee landscaping projects and seasonal maintenance tasks.
  • Manage budgets for maintenance operations and landscaping activities.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and service providers.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with school and event staff to prepare facilities for school events and activities.
  • Securing the premises daily by unlocking the buildings in the morning and locking them at the end of the day

Requirements

  • Proven experience in estate management, groundskeeping, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and staff management skills.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of landscaping practices, facility maintenance and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends and to respond to emergencies.
  • Valid driver’s licence and PDP (Code 10 preferable).
  • Ability to work harmoniously with pupils, parents, staff and the wider school community.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Willingness to work within the Christian ethos and expectations of the College.
  • Police Clearance and Sexual Offenders Clearance Certificate.
  • Water safety skills will be preferential.
