VACANCY: MUSIC EDUCATOR

We are seeking applications from passionate, experienced and energetic educators for the position of music educator in the Wynberg Girls' Junior School Music Department commencing in January 2027.

Requirements:

• A Music degree with a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
• Experience teaching piano from beginner to at least ABRSM/Trinity/UNISA Grade 6 level
• A proficient pianist and accompanist for assemblies, concerts, examinations, eisteddfods and school events
• Experience teaching class music in both the Foundation Phase and Intermediate/Senior Phase
• Experience preparing learners for examinations, eisteddfods, competitions and concerts
• The ability to arrange music for choirs and ensembles using Sibelius or MuseScore
• Choir conducting experience for junior and senior choirs
• Strong classroom management, organisational, communication and administrative skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• SACE registration
• A collaborative, enthusiastic and positive approach, with excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to contributing to the cultural life of the school

The following will be advantageous:

• Experience teaching a second instrument, preferably woodwind or brass
• Orchestra and/or band experience
• Marimba and/or Orff ensemble experience
• Kodály and Orff training

This is a one-year contract, School Governing Body position.
