Full-time Governing Body Music Teacher Post
Starting 01 January 2027

Edgemead Primary School invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for an SGB Music Teaching Post.

Applicants must submit the following in one PDF attachment, in this order:

1. Letter of motivation.
2. Updated CV including details of two contactable references.
3. One or two recent written references.
4. Certified copy of ID.
5. Certified copy of Music and Teaching qualifications, including official statement of results.
6. Certified copy of SACE registration.
7. SAPS and NRSO Clearance Certificates not older than 6 months. Both are available via Nevetec; contact be-sure@nevetec.co.za.
8. Additional supporting documentation for the recommended criteria listed below.

Key considerations for shortlisting — evidence must be included in the application pack:

1. Experience in teaching piano and saxophone to individuals and groups is essential.
2. Experience in teaching clarinet and flute would be advantageous.
3. Experience in teaching music theory to beginner, intermediate and advanced-level music pupils.
4. Experience in preparing learners for external examinations (TRINITY or ABRSM) and various Eisteddfods.
5. Be a proficient accompanist at an advanced level.
6. Current working knowledge of the CAPS curriculum and ATPs, with experience in preparing, teaching and assessing Performing Arts across various grades.
7. Excellent spoken and written communication in English.
8. Proficient in the use of MS Office, OneDrive and iPads.
9. Good organisational and administrative skills with strong professional values and work ethic.
10. Be enthusiastic and passionate about teaching music, and have a good rapport with children.
11. Have a growth mindset with the ability to be flexible, and be a team player with a good sense of humour.
