Springfield Convent School is a leading Independent Day School for girls from Pre-Primary to Matric. Springfield Convent School is seeking an enthusiastic and visionary Head of Hockey to provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Springfield Convent Hockey Programme, fostering a positive culture that balances participation, player development and competitive excellence.

Commencement date: 1 January 2027

• The ability to inspire players and mentor coaches
• A professional, enthusiastic and committed approach
• The willingness to support and uphold the ethos of the school, incorporating our values of compassion, integrity, respect, service and responsibility
• The flexibility to work afternoons, weekends and school holidays as required for matches, tournaments and tours

The successful candidate will:

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Springfield Hockey Programme across the Junior and Senior Schools
• Coach at least one indoor and one outdoor hockey team at Junior School and Senior School
• Lead the technical development programme across all age groups
• Assist with the recruitment, development and retention of quality coaches
• Mentor, support and oversee all of the hockey coaches
• Coordinate player selection, trials, fixtures, tournaments and festivals
• Promote excellence in coaching, player development and participation

Required qualifications and experience:

• SAHA Level 2 Coaching Qualification (or higher)
• A minimum of 3 years' experience coaching hockey at a high level
• Experience leading or coordinating a hockey programme
• Strong knowledge of Western Province and South African school hockey structures
• Experience in coach development, programme administration and event coordination will be beneficial
