Description
DIRECTOR OF MUSIC
St Andrew’s College and The Diocesan School for Girls in Makhanda (Grahamstown) are seeking a dynamic, energetic and experienced individual to lead a large and vibrant music school.
The successful candidate will:
- hold a postgraduate degree in music, preferably having specialised in piano and/or organ as a main instrument.
- be registered with SACE.
- have at least 5 – 8 years’ experience leading the academic and extramural facets of a music department and demonstrate
- a commitment to seeing the department thrive and grow.
- have at least 8 – 10 years’ experience teaching Subject Music from Grades 8 – 12, with a specific focus on the IEB
- curriculum as well as the syllabi of the ABRSM, Trinity and Unisa examining bodies.
- have at least 8 - 10 years’ experience conducting and leading orchestras, choirs and ensembles, with a particular focus on choirs.
- have excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- be fully computer literate with the ability to incorporate technology in lessons.
- be vibrant and passionate about education, and able to work well with a large and well-established team of music educators.
- have an understanding of and a willingness to commit to growing the unique partnership between The Diocesan School for Girls and St Andrew’s College.
- demonstrate a willingness to support the Christian ethos of the schools and to be actively involved in chapel services.
- share the values and vision of our schools on transformation, diversity and belonging.
