HEAD OF MUSIC (SGB)

Sans Souci Girls’ High School invites an outstanding Music teacher to join our school from 1 January 2027. We seek to appoint a passionate and visionary Head of Music with a proven record of musical excellence and success in building and developing Music Departments.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Music with PGCE, or an appropriate tertiary Music qualification, together with relevant management experience suited to the appointment.
• Experience in successfully leading and developing a Music Department.
• Experience as a Head of Music, with the ability to teach Creative Arts (GET) and Music as a subject from Grade 10–12.
• Experience in conducting a choir, coordinating extracurricular music programmes and/or leading ensembles.
• Experience as a Head of Culture would be advantageous.
• Proven ability to establish, implement and drive music performance goals.
• Experience in preparing, managing and reviewing music budget expenditure as appropriate.
• Excellent administrative, communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Proficiency in playing one or more musical instruments, with piano proficiency advantageous, together with instrumental teaching experience. Applicants should indicate the instruments they are qualified and able to teach, as well as the relevant grade levels.
• Experience in teaching a range of music genres.
• A minimum of five years’ experience teaching Music.
• SACE registration is a non-negotiable.
• Proficiency in MS Office and educational technology.
• A Police Clearance certificate will be required.
