Bishops Foundation Phase Internship Programme 2027

Calling all 3rd and 4th-year education students of 2027. 

At Bishops, we believe that great teachers are developed through experience, reflection, mentorship, and meaningful relationships. 

Our Foundation Phase Internship Programme offer aspiring educators the opportunity to immerse themselves in the life of a leading independent boys' school while completing their teaching qualification. 

Starting in January 2027, this full-time internship is designed for students currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Education, PGCE, or Honours qualification at a recognised distance-learning institution. 

This is a hands-on, fully engaged experience within a vibrant school community where learning extends beyond the classroom, and interns are encouraged to contribute, participate, and grow. You will learn alongside experienced educators, develop your professional practice, and gain valuable insight into every aspect of school life.

Minimum requirements 

Applicants must: 

  • Hold a National Senior Certificate with matriculation endorsement. 
  • Be registered for a BEd, PGCE or Honours qualification through an accredited institution. 
  • Be in their 3rd or 4th year of study specialising in Foundation Phase
  • Provide proof of current registration and course details. 
  • Provisional SACE registration 
  • Demonstrate a strong academic record. 
  • Be a South African citizen. 
  • Prior experience will be advantageous.
