FOUNDATION PHASE EDUCATOR
SGB CONTRACT

Commencement date: 1 January 2027

Greenfield Girls’ Primary School, situated in Kenilworth, Cape Town, seeks to provide a holistic education for girls through full participation in academic, sporting, outreach, creative and cultural activities.

The Senior Management Team invites suitably qualified and experienced educators to apply for the above position.

The successful candidate must:

• Hold a BEd Foundation Phase qualification or an equivalent four-year teaching qualification appropriate for the Foundation Phase.
• Be registered with SACE and provide proof of current registration.
• Have a minimum of five years’ experience teaching in a Foundation Phase classroom (practicum experience excluded).
• Have sound knowledge of the CAPS curriculum and its effective implementation.
• Be able to teach English Home Language, Afrikaans First Additional Language, Mathematics and Life Skills.
• Be able to plan, assess, record and report effectively across the Foundation Phase curriculum.
• Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Be willing and able to contribute to the school’s extramural programme.
• Be willing to participate fully in all aspects of school life, including after-hours functions when required.
• Demonstrate a passion for teaching and inspiring young minds.
• Be a person of integrity with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate a high level of professionalism.
• Have a good level of computer literacy, including proficiency in Google Workspace applications.

The following would be advantageous:

• Experience working in a one-class-per-grade environment.
• Knowledge of Jolly Phonics.
• Experience with inquiry-based or project-based learning and developing thinking skills.
• Experience teaching coding and robotics at Foundation Phase level.
