Finance Officer - Creditors (GOVERNING BODY POST) with effect from 1st September 2026

Rondebosch Boys’ High School invites applications for a suitably qualified and experienced:

Finance Officer – Creditors
Starting date: 1st September 2026
(depending on preferred candidate’s availability)

Salary: Market-related and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Normal working hours: Monday to Thursday: 07h00 – 15h00; Friday: 07h00 – 14h00.

As part of a recent restructure within the Finance Department and the realignment of responsibilities to support the continued growth and evolving operational needs of the School, Rondebosch Boys' High School is seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced Finance Officer – Creditors to join our Finance team.

The successful candidate will assume responsibility for the complete accounts payable (creditors) function for both the School and Boarding House. Only highly motivated and dedicated applicants who meet the following requirements will be considered.

Position Requirements

  • A formal accounting, bookkeeping or finance qualification would be advantageous.
  • At least 3–5 years' experience in a Creditors / Accounts Payable position, supported by a proven track record.
  • Previous experience in a school or public sector environment would be advantageous.
  • Good working knowledge of accounting software (e.g: Pastel), electronic banking platforms and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Experience using EdAdmin (or a similar School Management Information System) would be advantageous.
  • Excellent reconciliation, organisational and administrative skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Highest standards of integrity, honesty and confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional and courteous manner when dealing with suppliers, staff, parents and other stakeholders.
  • A positive, proactive approach with the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative Finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for the complete creditors/accounts payable function for both Rondebosch Boys' High School and the Boarding House.
  • Process supplier invoices accurately and timeously, ensuring all transactions are correctly coded and allocated.
  • Reconcile supplier statements on a monthly basis and promptly resolve supplier queries and account discrepancies.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly creditor payment runs for authorisation.
  • Capture and process electronic payments via the School's banking platform.
  • Maintain accurate supplier records, including banking details and supporting documentation.
  • Liaise professionally with suppliers regarding invoices, payments and account queries.
  • Perform the daily reconciliation of Uniform Shop sales and receipts, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Coordinate the ordering and stock control of milk, coffee, cleaning materials and other office consumable supplies.
  • Administer and reconcile miscellaneous collections received through the Karri payment platform.
  • Capture and reconcile monthly Standard Bank PayCard transactions, ensuring appropriate supporting documentation, coding and approval.
  • Ensure all creditor records and supporting documentation are accurately maintained in both electronic and physical filing systems.
  • Provide support and backup to other members of the Finance team during periods of leave or peak workload.
