A teaching opportunity has become available at St John’s College as we continue to grow and strengthen our academic offering. The introduction of IGCSE Levels within the Sixth Form (Cambridge) programme marks an exciting new chapter for the College. This reflects growing student demand while complementing our long-standing commitment to educational excellence across both the IEB and Cambridge pathways.

We seek to appoint an individual from January 2027 who demonstrates the following:

  • A love of commerce subjects (Economics, Business, and Accounting), and who enthusiastically shares their passion with their students
  • A belief in the potential of their students, and who sees them as active participants in  learning
  • Excellent content knowledge of Economics, Business, and Accounting in the IEB and/or Cambridge (CIE) A Level curriculum
  • A commitment to their own lifelong learning
  • An ability to produce high-quality assessments and analysis of student performance in line with Cambridge International Education standards
  • A willingness to contribute to the department and take on additional responsibilities in consultation with the Executive Headmaster and the Head of Sixth Form

Members of staff are required to model outstanding teaching and contribute fully to the academic, pastoral, co-curricular, and safeguarding life of the College by inspiring student achievement, supporting wellbeing, collaborating with colleagues, and upholding the highest professional standards. Members of staff are expected to demonstrate a commitment to working within the school's values, Anglican ethos, and mission.

The successful candidate will be able to work well within a team. They should be computer literate and make appropriate use of ICT within lessons. They will be someone with a real enthusiasm for these popular subjects who can motivate and challenge our articulate and questioning students. We are looking for a person with vision, drive, and sound judgement.

Minimum requirements:  

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Economics or a similar degree.
  • A PGCE Diploma or equivalent.
  • Registered and in good standing with SACE.
  • A minimum of 5 years of IEB and/or Cambridge A Level teaching experience. 

Advantageous:

  • An Honours or Master's degree in Economics.
