Torah Academy

The Torah Academy is a Chabad Jewish Day School in Johannesburg, South Africa. It comprises a Boys High School, Girls High School, Primary School and Nursery School.

The Torah Academy aims to provide and promote the highest quality Jewish and general education to a diverse community of Jewish children, in addition to cultivating students to reach personal excellence, and to be responsible members of society.

Torah Academy is a community school founded on the teachings of Chabad philosophy. Inspired by the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s vision, our students are given the foundation for a lifelong love of Hashem, Torah, Mitzvos, the Jewish people, and Israel. While uncompromisingly committed to Torah values, we welcome every Jewish child with unconditional love.

We are committed to an outstanding, holistic education in both our formal learning in Torah and General Studies, as well as in our informal education departments. We are dedicated to giving every child a Jewish education that nurtures their soul, unique purpose, and innate creativity. Our warm and welcoming ethos ensures all of our students from many diverse backgrounds and communities feel accepted, safe, and respected. Our dedicated staff works together to foster each child’s social, emotional, spiritual, and cognitive development from Nursery through to High School. We strive to provide our students with the very best in all areas, and our magnificent campus provides the perfect grounds for our students to build a strong and powerful foundation for the rest of their lives. Torah Academy graduates further their studies at renowned local and international Yeshivos, seminaries and universities.

We view each of our students as an entire world, and as such our education extends far beyond the classroom. Our Shabbatons, sporting activities, learning programs, and family events have incredible spirit, joy, soul, and camaraderie and foster teamwork, social skills, kindness, and respect. As the school with a neshama, an appreciation for each of our student’s unique talents and soul is at the heart of everything we do. Integrating the skills and knowledge gained from all our teachers and offerings, we aim to educate the whole child, nurturing them to realize and maximize their individual potential, educate them with soul, impart spirituality and develop a healthy sense of self-worth. We are inspired by the Rebbe’s dedication, direction, and love for Eretz Yisroel, its inhabitants, and those dedicated to its protection. We endeavour to instil in our students a deep love for Eretz Yisroel as well as an appreciation for the holiness of the land of Israel. We await the day when we will join our brothers and sisters in the holy land with the coming of Moshiach.

Community and giving to others are some of the foundational pillars of Torah Academy. From our youngest students in nursery school, we empower them to be leaders. A leader is someone who positively impacts the world around them, utilizing their capacities and strengths to be beacons of light. Based on the teachings of Chassidus, we view our students as lamplighters and instil within them the knowledge that they can change the world through acts of goodness and kindness. Sharing ones knowledge with another, creating a home that welcomes others with respect and joy, and one small act of giving are all transformative actions. Our alumni live as lamplighters in their many varied professions, fields, and personal lives, positively impacting communities around the globe.
