Summit Academy
Overview
Welcome to Summit Academy
The Summit in our name refers to the summit of a mountain. Every learner’s situation is unique and the summit that he/she should reach is different. The hope is that the climb will be a beautiful and adventurous experience taking learners towards their full potential.
The White Paper on Education states that inclusion has to be applied in all schools. This means that learners with unique needs, like ADHD, dyslexia and emotional difficulties have to be accommodated in mainstream education. In practice, however, it is not always to the benefit of the learner. Large classes and academic pressure often mean that these learners do not get the attention they need.
Parents realise the need for an alternative. Summit Academy wants to create an environment where learners can develop to their full potential. Smaller classes with a more relaxed work tempo are offered to the benefit of learners. We use CAPS as our curriculum which is the same curriculum offered in main stream education.
