Description

Occupational Therapist: WCED Maternity Contract at Tafelberg School, Bothasig, CapeTown.

Contract: 17 February 2026 - 16 October 2026

The successful therapist will be required to independently:

  • Assess learners with specific learning disabilities (Grades 1 - 6)
  • Write therapy reports and plan intervention programmes
  • Participate in formulating Individual Support Plans
  • Conduct individual, small group and classroom-based therapy
  • Contribute to case management discussions (parents and school-based support teams)
  • Liaise with teachers and parents regarding learners
  • Support the institution in running school-specific portfolios
  • Conduct staff development, in-service, and district training workshops
  • Work beyond school hours when required
  • Contribute to the Resource Centre Team

Requirements:

The successful candidate should be appropriately qualified and registered with the HPCSA and SACE.

The following are highly recommended:

  • Experience in working in an LSEN school setting
  • Good computer, administrative, and organisational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge / experience in sensory integration
  • Knowledge / experience in alternative examination methods, such as scribing
  • Experience in providing integrated therapy for learners with hi educational needs
