OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST (WCED MATERNITY CONTRACT)
Description
Occupational Therapist: WCED Maternity Contract at Tafelberg School, Bothasig, CapeTown.
Contract: 17 February 2026 - 16 October 2026
The successful therapist will be required to independently:
- Assess learners with specific learning disabilities (Grades 1 - 6)
- Write therapy reports and plan intervention programmes
- Participate in formulating Individual Support Plans
- Conduct individual, small group and classroom-based therapy
- Contribute to case management discussions (parents and school-based support teams)
- Liaise with teachers and parents regarding learners
- Support the institution in running school-specific portfolios
- Conduct staff development, in-service, and district training workshops
- Work beyond school hours when required
- Contribute to the Resource Centre Team
Requirements:
The successful candidate should be appropriately qualified and registered with the HPCSA and SACE.
The following are highly recommended:
- Experience in working in an LSEN school setting
- Good computer, administrative, and organisational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
- Knowledge / experience in sensory integration
- Knowledge / experience in alternative examination methods, such as scribing
- Experience in providing integrated therapy for learners with hi educational needs
