

LEARNING SUPPORT TEAM LEADER
Description
The SGB of Wynberg Boys’ Junior School is looking to appoint a Learning Support Team Leader to join our team and provide essential support to learners with diverse educational needs.
The Learning Support Team Leader will play a pivotal role in creating an adaptive, inclusive learning environment that ensures every learner can thrive. This position goes beyond traditional learning support and encompasses strategic planning, teacher coaching, intervention design, and systemic educational improvement.
Key Responsibilities
● Offer Learning Support to individuals and/or groups with a strong focus on Mathematics, with experience and training using the CPA approach.
● Develop and implement a comprehensive learning support strategy aligned with the school's educational vision
● Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and care teams to design holistic intervention programs
● Support teachers in integrating child-centred, inclusive learning approaches
● Observe and provide individualized coaching to teachers
● Model effective instructional strategies through collaborative teaching
● Design and deliver professional development workshops on inclusive education and learning support
● Facilitate continuous improvement in teaching practices
● Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify and address learning barriers
● Create targeted support plans addressing academic and social-emotional needs
● Analyse academic performance data to modify teaching strategies
● Select and implement assistive technologies tailored to individual learning needs
● Engage regularly with parents about learner progress and intervention plans
● Advocate for learning support resources and inclusive practices
● Interact with WCED District officials to secure learner accommodations
● Promote a culture of growth, reflection, and collaboration
Qualifications & Experience
● Bachelor's degree in Education, Educational Psychology, Learning Support, or related field
● Preferred: Advanced qualifications in Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or Educational Leadership
● Registration with the South African Council of Educators (SACE)
● Minimum 5 years of teaching or educational support experience in a primary school setting
● Demonstrated experience working with diverse learners
● Proven track record in designing and implementing differentiated instruction
Essential to have knowledge of:
● Child-centred and inclusive teaching practices
● Proficiency in intervention and remediation strategies
● Proficient in C.P.A. approach to Mathematics
● Advanced data analysis and assessment capabilities
● Technological adaptability with assistive learning tools
● Comprehensive understanding of WCED policies and special educational needs compliance
● Advanced computer and digital literacy
● Proficiency in educational assessment and intervention technologies
● Ability to manage complex documentation and learner support records
● Strategic planning and implementation skills
