Wynberg Girls’ High School prides itself on high academic standards and an innovative and holistic approach to education in a rapidly changing world. The school is entering an exciting new phase in the development of its Music Department and is seeking to appoint part-time, passionate Strings and Brass specialists to join our team.
Approximate number of lessons/week:
- Strings: 16-18 lessons, in addition to conducting and leading the Strings Ensemble.
- Brass: 7-8 lessons.
Successful applicants will:
- possess a demonstrable passion for, and expertise in, teaching either Strings or Brass from Beginner level to a Grade 8 level;
- possess the necessary Music qualifications;
- prepare learners for internal and external music exams and concerts;
- assist with music concerts and events when required;
- be able to attend music meetings and complete relevant admin when required;
- possess the ability to work within the School and the Music Department, fostering a progressive and dynamic learning environment; and
- demonstrate a commitment to the school’s core values, and a keen interest in values-based education within the context of the South African educational landscape.
The following will be to the benefit of candidates:
- an ability to teach other musical instruments (please state clearly);
- an ability to teach one/two class theory and general music knowledge for Grades 8-10
- experience in conducting and leading instrumental ensembles; and
- sound administrative, communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
