Position Overview
Ubuntu School is seeking a passionate and motivated Maths and Physical Sciences Apprentice Teacher to join our team, supporting Grades 6–9. This is an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified educator to develop their teaching craft in a vibrant, supportive environment while contributing to our students' academic and personal growth.
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about teaching mathematics and science, dedicated to building strong relationships with young adolescents, and eager to innovate and collaborate within a dynamic school setting.
Key Responsibilities
● Assist in delivering engaging and rigorous Maths and Physical Sciences lessons for Grades 6–9.
● Support the lead teacher in planning, classroom management, and student assessments.
● Create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment that encourages inquiry and critical thinking.
● Participate actively in school life, including co-curricular activities and community initiatives.
● Engage in professional development and mentorship opportunities provided by Ubuntu School.
● Demonstrate a commitment to Ubuntu School’s mission, values, and holistic educational philosophy.
Minimum Requirements
● Bachelor’s Degree in Education or PGCE (Senior and FET qualifications mandatory).
● SACE Registration (South African Council for Educators) — proof of registration required.
● Strong knowledge base in Mathematics and Physical Sciences curriculum for middle school learners.
● Passion for education and working with students in Grades 6–9.
● Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
● Willingness to learn, grow, and be mentored within a supportive team environment.
Preferred Attributes
● Prior practical teaching experience, internships, or volunteer roles in a school environment.
● Commitment to fostering a culturally responsive and inclusive classroom.
● Collaborative spirit and a growth mindset.
● Creativity and flexibility in instructional methods.
