QUALIFIED FOUNDATION PHASE PLAYSCHOOL TEACHER

Qualified Foundation Phase Playschool Teacher – January to July 2026

An exciting fixed-term opportunity has opened for a fully qualified and experienced Foundation Phase teacher to join Little Oaks Nursery School (Constantia, Cape Town) from January – July 2026 (Terms 1 and 2), working with our lively and loving group of 20-month to 3-year-olds.

Minimum Requirements (non-negotiable):

• A completed Foundation Phase teaching degree (no students or partially qualified applicants).
• At least 2–3 years of post-qualification teaching experience, ideally with toddlers.
• Based in Cape Town.
• Valid Police Clearance Certificate (or proof of application in progress).
• SACE registration (or proof of application in progress).
• Basic First Aid/CPR (training can be arranged if not current).

Preferable Requirements:

• Experience with Canva is preferable but training can be provided.

The ideal candidate will be:

• Warm, nurturing, and playful, while also mature, responsible, and confident leading a class.
• Energetic and creative, with a love of sensory play.
• Comfortable managing and guiding two teaching assistants.
• Professional in communication with parents, maintaining the values and ethos of our school.

Your role includes:

• Leading daily routines (circle time & stories, art, sensory, outdoor play).
• Managing a team of two teaching assistants.
• Handling all parent communication with warmth and professionalism.
• Preparing and setting up daily engaging activities based on a pre-planned curriculum.
• Overseeing children’s personal care.
• Contributing to weekly WhatsApp updates, end-of-theme newsletters, and term 2 assessments (templates provided).

Contract details:

• Start date: 7 January 2026
• End date: 26 June 2026
• Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 13:00 (includes set-up/pack-up).
