Position: Grade 8 and 9 English Home Language Teacher
Location: Apex Pinelands, Conradie Park

Your core role will be to:
- Close reading, writing, and comprehension gaps
- Model academic language
- Build learner confidence and expressive skills
Key Responsibilities
- Teach and reteach Grade 8–9 English Home Language content using interactive and language-rich strategies.
- Scaffold learning effectively for second-language English speakers.
- Facilitate small-group intervention and one-on-one academic support.
- Track learner progress and provide targeted academic intervention.
- Collaborate with team members, facilitators, and instructional leads.
- Foster a classroom culture that is inclusive, respectful, and academically ambitious.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and school-wide initiatives.
- (Advantageous but not required) Support Social Sciences/Humanities teaching where needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Linguistics, Humanities, or related field, with a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
- SACE registration (or proof of registration in progress).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience teaching English.
- Experience teaching Social Sciences/Humanities is advantageous (but not required).
- Experience with literacy intervention, scaffolding academic language, or supporting multilingual learners preferred.
- NSC marking experience is an advantage.
