English Home Language Teacher - Grades 8 - 12

We are seeking the services of an experienced, energetic and passionate English Home Language teacher to join an experienced and successful team with a proud history of inspiring boys to love English and producing exceptional matric results.

The position is effective from January 2025.

The successful candidate will:

  • have English as a major and have suitable experience in teaching English Home Language from Grades 8 to 12.
  • have an interest in and experience in teaching English HL to students with barriers to learning and non-mother tongue speakers.
  • be able to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and empowered to improve his language skills at his own pace.
  • deliver engaging English lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • be willing to help with English support sessions outside of lesson times.
  • be highly proficient in and have experience with IT in all aspects of work.
  • have experience in setting senior exam papers as well as external marking or be willing to gain experience as soon as possible.
  • have experience in producing creative and stimulating learning material.   
  • have exceptional interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively as a member of a diverse team dedicated to the development and care of all pupils.
  • be able to contribute to the Pastoral, Academic, Sporting and Cultural Life of the School.
  • be a South African Citizen and a member of SACE.
