Must have:
- dynamic and visionary leadership demonstrated towards the improvement of academic performance and the establishment of learning support structures and strategies.
- proven and appropriate experience of
- curricular
- institutional and
- administrative managerial leadership of a high school
Must have experience in and knowledge of…
- analysing learner results
- monitoring intervention strategies which is part of the SBST (School base support team)
- staff development and performance management
- the NSC regarding curriculum content, assessment and internal moderation at high school level
- assessment co-ordination, examinations management and administration
- WCED systems and school management software programmes.
- implementation of the integration of ICT as a component of the academic focus
- managing the Academic Portfolio (GET and FET) of the school
- managing and taking responsibility for all learner-related academic issues
- implementing and managing various academic monitoring systems
- formulating and regularly reviewing the school’s academic policy whilst ensuring legal compliance
- overseeing promotion and progression meetings
- heading the SAIC (School Assessment Irregularities Committee)
- liaising with the WCED and other institutions
- dispute and conflict resolution
- formulating detailed report on academics to SGB

- a strong academic and an outstanding teacher; qualified and experienced; must state subjects taught
- an organised and persistent administrator
- committed to going the extra mile for the school and its community and respect the ethos of the school
- sensitive to, and willing to be involved in the school’s activities after hours and on Saturdays. Obtaining a PDP is a recommendation
- computer literate, using this skill daily as an administrative resource as well as for curriculum and learner support
- well versed in modern trends w.r.t academics/education
Must have
- A good command of the English language; a strong but approachable personality
- Experience in teaching (including matrics) and leadership, preferably in a large, complex and diverse urban high school
Must provide:
- a name clearance certificate
- a sexual offender’s clearance certificate
The above list of job duties is not exclusive or exhaustive and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post and may change according to the needs of the school.
