SCHOOL COUNSELLOR – PART TIME POSITION

Phyllis Jowell School is a co-educational Jewish school that provides a dual curriculum of Jewish and General subjects.

Applicants are invited for a suitable candidate to join the Learning Team in January 2026. The School Counsellor plays a vital role in supporting the academic, social and emotional well-being of students.

Minimum requirements:
• Recognised qualifications and registered with relevant professional body
• Previous experience in a school setting essential
• Inspirational, organised and energetic
• Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate and work with other professionals on the multi-disciplinary Learning Team
• Strong English verbal and written communication skills with a track record of effective administrative abilities
• Willing and able to run student/staff/parent workshops
• Ability to guide and counsel students across all ages as well as communicate with parents with sensitivity and understanding
• Provide counsel to teaching and non-teaching staff when necessary
• Comprehensive computer literacy
• Maintain accurate and confidential records
• Familiar with relevant legislation including the South African Schools Act and the Children’s Act
• Clearances: Police, Sexual Offences and Child Protection
