Position: CAT & Technology Teacher
Start Date: 1 January 2026
Type: Full-time SGB educator post
At Edgemead High School, we pride ourselves on integrating digital literacy, critical thinking and innovation across our curriculum. We now seek a dynamic and passionate educator to teach both Computer Applications Technology (CAT) Grade 10 – 12 and Technology Grade 8 & 9.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach CAT and Technology in line with the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) curriculum / CAPS requirements.
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons that integrate practical and theoretical aspects of technology, digital tools, software applications, and ethical/appropriate use of ICT.
- Develop, manage and assess projects, assignments and practical work in CAT & Technology.
- Maintain and manage technology resources (computers, software licences, networks, equipment) and ensure safe, efficient use of ICT in the classroom.
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments (e.g., STEM, Design, Life Orientation) to enhance cross-discipline technology integration.
- Promote digital citizenship, responsible use of technology and help learners develop skills for further study or the workplace.
- Willingness to be involved in the school pastoral and extra-mural programme.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- A recognised teaching qualification (Bachelor of Education, B.Ed., or equivalent) plus a relevant subject-specialist qualification in CAT.
- Registration with South African Council for Educators (SACE).
- Proven experience teaching CAT/Technology at High School level is highly desirable.
- Strong competence with computer hardware, software applications (office suites, digital media, coding basics, networks) and willingness to stay updated with emerging technologies.
- Good classroom management skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to inclusive education and adapting lessons to diverse learner needs.
- Ability to work as part of a team, and to mentor learners in digital/technology.
