BOOKKEEPER
Description
Situated in the heart of the southern suburbs of Cape Town, Michael Oak Waldorf School is a beautiful small school community with children from nursery to matric. Michael Oak seeks to awaken the whole child towards creative responsibility and to develop confident, balanced individuals empowered to work with the challenges of today and tomorrow.
We are seeking candidates for the position of:
BOOKKEEPER
Part-time permanent position to begin as soon as possible
The main focus of this role is to support our non-profit school by ensuring that fees are billed correctly and paid on time. Clear communication, accuracy and dedication to detail are key. The role will also include processing creditors on Pastel and loading payments onto the banking system and managing petty cash. If you are passionate about education and want to make a positive impact, we invite you to apply.
The position is part-time – for approximately 20 hours a week, with some variation between busy times and less busy times. Some flexibility is possible between working from home and working in office, but this cannot be a fully remote position as the Bookkeeper needs to be able to meet with fee-payers in person.
The successful applicant must meet the following criteria:
- At least 5 years’ experience in the implementation of debtors’ processes, from billing to collection, including handover to legal processes
- Experience in managing debit orders
- At least 2 years’ experience in processing creditors
- Proven experience on Ed-Admin and Pastel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Integrity and sensitivity to be able to respond to difficult situations with professionalism
- Proven ability to keep to deadlines and manage own time.
Our preference would be to appoint a person who also has the following:
- Relevant experience in an education environment
- Experience in working with auditors to complete an annual audit
- Experience working with the Karri App
- Willingness and ability to work during the school holidays (with some flexibility) and, in particular, in December when year-end processes must be completed
- Advanced skills in MS Office or similar business applications
- A clear Police Clearance Certificate and credit record.
Please send a cover letter, short CV, copy of your ID and the contact details for 3 referees (or 3 written references) to: reception@michaeloak.org.za
Closing Date: Monday 12 May 2025
